PROJECT 1: Models and Tattoos: Expression through Design Elements
and Principles
Taylors Graduate Capabilities
For this assignment, we were asked to design 6 models following with it's tattoo stamps based on the 5 elements- Materials, Line, Shape, Mass and Space. Along with the 16 Principles- Balance, Connection, Contrast, Emphasis, Form, Groping, Imagery, Meaning, Symbolism, Pattern, Placement, Proportion, Rhythm, Scale, Unity and Variety. These models were to have a dimension of 100mm x 100mm x 100mm. At the end of this assignment we had a verbal presentation to relate our ideas and concepts towards our assigned lecturer.

TASKS
Design Elements and Principles are all around us. It is a necessary process needed in design where every art student should know of. This process is the start of every design we have today.
INTRODUCTION
FINAL OUTCOME
PROJECT 2b: DESIGNING WITH ARCHITECTURAL INTENTIONS & PRINCIPLES + MATERIALITY+ CONTEXT: Lookout Structure with a view
INTRODUCTION
A lookout structure is used to observe and view towards sceneries or observe the nature provided in an allocated site. Where the structure is design corresponding to the nature and suitable for the users.
TASKS
For this assignment we were to design a lookout structure with a maximum of 30sqft. Where the structure should accomodate 3 observing activities which includes built-in furniture as well as incorporating spatial planning and standard anthropometrics measurements. Besides that, the structure needs to correspond with the chosen site from Project 2a. Along with that, we were to apply design intentions and 3 principles towards the design of the structure and effects of materials.
FINAL OUTCOME
MODEL
For my model, I've used a lot of vertical lines to create verticality as well as blurring its boundaries which creates a similar effect to a mangrove forest. Besides that, the look ut structure has been broken down into different levels to view the site at a different viewing point. Where the main view is towards the riverside while the lowest point is towards the rich mangrove trees behind. The main view also creates a panoramic view of the riverside. The man material used for the structure is timber and is located in an open area in the site. Where many fallen trees were hence there is no removal of trees to create the structure. The structure is also elevated due to high tide or during flooding seasons.
BOARDS
These are the overall boards for my lookout structure which consist of a location and site plan, plan views, elevations perspectives and design intention along with the site condition diagrams.
REFLECTION & TGC's
From this assignment, I've learned more about the design principles and elements as well as applying diagraming methods and drawings. I've also realized that my thinking and problem solving has improved as throughout the entire process, there were certain obstacles which occurred in preventing me from achieving my desired outcome. However, after modifying and accommodating to the problems, I had managed to solve the issue. Besides that, my time management has improved since we were allocated very little time to complete this assignment.
