Community Service: Reflective Essay

Volunteers Packing Food

To many, a research paper is seen as a deadly project. Writing essays, extracting information from many sources and then elaborating it may seem very tedious. However, in my case, I see this as one of my competencies. Reason being, I myself have always enjoyed the art of writing. Despite that, disruptions often come along with group projects. The first disruption our group faced was to work online due to the movement control and closing of school. Due to this, our only source to communicate with one another was through online platforms like teams. This was also a major drawback as at the start, everyone kept to themselves and was quiet. However, after opening up along with communicating with each other, everyone was up and ready to work.

The second drawback we had was the trust between each and every group member since we are unable to see each other doing their parts. Hence, this has managed to build our relationship and trust between each other. Another main disruption our group faced was the juggle of time for both our architecture modules along with the community service module. Being in a tightly packed schedule we had to really manage our time well. However, I believe that through this assignment, I was able to manage my time efficiently along with my groupmates.

The other major disruption we had was a fight with time. We were rushing to look for a beneficiary hence, we tried contacting many at once.  Hoping that this assignment can open their eyes and provide a helping hand. Through the contacting of the outside sources, I believe that this assignment has managed to brush up our interactive skills with strangers. Another thing which, we have learnt is to not give up easily as we kept looking for more beneficiaries as well as constantly updating and asking them questions. After a tiring and eventful search, we had finally gotten a reply from The Food Aid Foundation. From there, we started our journey on writing our research paper.

Of course, writing a research paper may seem as a handful to some of our groupmates however, we took this as an opportunity to help one another. I myself had tried to help by fixing their grammar as well as researching for more information. While the others who had completed their task went to help the other members in need. I believe this was one of the many reasons our group was able to work well without any conflicts. Besides that, as a group we had tried our best to motivate one another in hopes to complete this assignment with a great outcome.

Teamwork

To conclude, I believe that as a team, to be able to work harmoniously and productively does not necessarily need to be students of the top. Instead, we should be the members which are willing to help one another or go an extra mile to cooperate with each other. Overall, through this module and assignment, I believe I had managed to learn new skills along with creating a better relationship with my groupmates.

Once again, I would like to thank the Food Aid Foundation for their time and generosity to participate in our research paper. As a person living in today's society I would greatly appreciate it if everyone is able to help one another especially in this current time and need. After all, helping in any way even the smallest possibility is always better than nothing.
