PROJECT 1: Diagramming Architectural Design Intentions & Principles

INTRODUCTION

Diagramming is a graphical representation of concepts that are part of architecture. This would include the principles, elements and components. Through diagrams, it itself would tell the story and ideas. Where the visual says a thousand words.

TASKS

For this assignment, we were given a specific house in West Malaysia. This being the Deck House by Choo Gim Wah. For this we were to identify the architecture along with the spaces created from the design intentions. This assignment is focusing more on analyzing a work purely from the architectural aspect. Where we are to identify the architects intention based on the immediate site context and how the intentions actually reflected the architectural principles. For this assignment, we were to work in a group of 5 people. As well as coming up with 8 analysis diagrams and 8 diagrammatic models at a size of (8x8x8 cm)

FINAL OUTCOME

This is an overall of our boards and models. along with an actual model of the Deck House itself.

 MODELS

These are the diagramattic models done by my group along with a model of the actual Deck house. dor the diagram models, we've done a few for natural lighting, ventilation, p

DIAGRAMS

These are the chosen diagrams my group has done for the Deck House.  A few of these diagrams are additive & subtractive, hierachy, structure , natural lighting, ventilation, repetitive to unique, plan to elevation and geometry.

BOARDS

These are the boards for assignment 1 which includes the plan views, sections and elevations of the Deck house. There.s also a breief introduction of architect Choo Gim Wah along with perspectives and an exploded axonometric of the Deck House.

REFLECTION & TGC's

From this assignment, I've learned more about diagramming and diagram model making. I've also realized that my thinking and problem solving has improved as throughout the entire process, there were certain obstacles which occurred in preventing us from achieving our desired outcome. However, after modifying and accommodating to the problems, we had managed to solve the issue. Besides that, our time management has improved since we were allocated very little time to complete this assignment.
