INTRODUCTION
FINAL OUTCOME
PROJECT 1B: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS REPORT
INTRODUCTION
To learn and understand more about the architectural transformation in Malaysia which had taken placed during the Independence in 1957. It is when new icons of Malaysia were created and expressed during that period of time. As many Malaysian buildings during that era had not been recorded for the future and present time. Which is why recording this significant heritage in Malaysian architecture is key before it disappears.
TASKS
For this assignment, we were to do a comparative research analysis on 2 buildings. One modern and one ancient in Kuala Lumpur. We are to design a booklet which consist of the buildings organizational form and space, circulation, axis relations, massing ant etc. The A4 booklet was to be submitted in both hardcopy and softcopy. The requirement was a minimum of 10 pages and this is a group project.
PROGRESS / RESEARCH
Here are a few images our group had taken on site for both Sunway Pyramid and Chin Woo Stadium. We had split our groups into pairs so that we would be able to get the work done faster. Certain groups had to do research on ventilation, window, lighting, interior spaces and etc.
FINAL OUTCOME
- CHIN WOO STADIUM-
This is an overall view of our booklet. I've broken it down into 2 parts. The top is Chin Woo Stadium and the bottom being Sunway Pyramid. For the booklet, our group decided to bring it up a notch. We did this by using drawings and sketches instead of using the images we've taken on site. Instead, those images were used as reference. From the booklet, you can see that our theme is mainly black and white and we were trying to go for a more silhouette kind of feel for the buildings.
- SUNWAY PYRAMID-
REFLECTION & TGC's
From this assignment, I've learned more about the 2 buildings. Especially Chin Woo stadium as when we ventured inside I realized and actually looked at the details of the building in terms of the different materials and design. Another thing is, I believe that my communication and interpersonal skills has improved as I managed to communicate with all of my group members even being such a huge group. Overall, from this assignment, it has taught me to look at the details and as well as the differences between present and past architecture.
