PROJECT 1: Models and Tattoos: Expression through Design Elements

For this assignment, we were asked to design 6 models following with it's tattoo stamps based on the 5 elements- Materials, Line, Shape, Mass and Space. Along with the 16 Principles- Balance, Connection, Contrast, Emphasis, Form, Groping, Imagery, Meaning, Symbolism, Pattern, Placement, Proportion, Rhythm, Scale, Unity and Variety. These models were to have a dimension of 100mm x 100mm x 100mm. At the end of this assignment we had a verbal presentation to relate our ideas and concepts towards our assigned lecturer.

Design Elements and Principles are all around us. It is a necessary process needed in design where every art student should know of. This process is the start of every design we have today.

PROJECT 1A: SKETCHING ANALYSIS
INTRODUCTION
Here, we are to learn more about the architecture around Klang Valley. In both modern and historical architecture. Where we were to analysed the buildings and store these historical and modern findings.
TASKS
For this assignment, we were asked to do research on 5 ancient architectural sites and 5 modern architectural sites. We were given the choice to choose our buildings from a list 32 buildings provided. Where we are supposed to find out more about it's architect, site analysis, architectural elements, building construction and etc. These research are to be stored and kept in an A4 booklet. For the information found, we are supposed to store them in an info-graphic style.

From this assignment, I've learned more about the buildings in Kuala Lumpur as well as looking at the details of the buildings. I believe my skills in problem solving and communicating has improved. Especially when conversing with the locals workers who worked at those buildings. My knowledge in the architectural elements as well as Malaysia's history has broaden greatly from this project as well.
